How to Clear Car Clutter!

Though I don’t own a car, I have been a passenger many times.

I’ll often hear friends say “don’t mind the mess” or “sorry, my car is a little messy” to forewarn me about what I may be stepping into. If you’ve ever muttered those lovely words to a friend, here are some tips to help avoid any future embarrassment:

-Keep a box of Kleenex in your glove compartment and if there’s room, some paper towel too.  I can’t tell you how many times I have had a sneeze attack and desperately needed a tissue. This also comes in handy when you have an unexpected spill because the lid from your drink that you got at the fast food joint wasn’t on properly!

-Speaking of which, always have a bag for garbage.  Hang it on your gear shift. It will give you a place other than the backseat or under you car seat for all those empty food containers, wrappers and cups if you eat on the run.

-A couple of small totes or bins with handles in the trunk are a great way to keep things contained so their not rolling around every time you turn a corner. They also work well if you have to take stuff to the cleaners as you can just grab the tote, run in and drop everything off.

-If you spend a lot of time in the car due to work, I suggest investing in an office in a box. This is a filing system that will keep important papers organized and easily accessible.  Try looking for one with a handle so you can carry it easily.
